Description

40 Years – and Not a Bit Boring

This year, the long-standing theater troupe celebrates its 40th anniversary and, to mark the occasion, presents the comedy “Something Classy for a Change!”.
With a touch of self-deprecating humor, the ensemble pokes fun at itself and invites the audience to a lively evening of theater. Fiction and reality blur, as the play’s content certainly touches on reality.

What’s it about? For 40 years, the Stadtbühne Wörgl has been performing peasant plays and rural light comedies to great acclaim for its loyal audience. But that is about to change now, on the occasion of their 40th anniversary. This time, they must finally stage a play with substance to meet the acting aspirations of the troupe members and show the audience that they have more to offer than the usual love triangles between farmer, farmhand, and priest. It quickly becomes clear: a funny, mischievous crime classic from the “Father Brown” series is to be staged. To this end, a professional but completely unknown director is hired via the internet. But the theater troupe’s ambitious project turns out to be more difficult than expected. And what role does the mysterious director actually play? As a result, rehearsals for “Father Brown and the Mystery of the Old Countess” become increasingly chaotic, but thanks to a surprising twist, they are ultimately crowned with success.

Directed by Claus Moser, this production offers a humorous glimpse behind the scenes of amateur theater. It is full of self-deprecating humor, situational comedy, and affectionate jabs at the everyday realities of theater life.
